Eyelash Extension Certification in Kentucky

Eyelash extensions enhance the beauty of the eyes and give the eyes a gorgeous look. However, misapplication by unskilled technicians can lead to bad experience. It can damage the eye area. If you want to become a professional eyelash technician in Kentucky, you should follow the state's requirements.


In order to get the certificate for eyelash extensions, you need a license as a cosmetologist. For a regular cosmetology license in Kentucky, you must first obtain a cosmetology apprentice license.


The first step in pursuing the cosmetology license is to attend cosmetology school. You have to complete 1800 hours here. Attending a school is a better way to learn the skills needed to be knowledgeable, learn about beauty trends, and establish the business side of the job.


The second step is completing the practical and written exam in Kentucky. You will receive an application for the exam from your beauty school. You must submit a $75 application fee along with an application and proof of your high school diploma. You must be at least 16 years old.


In the practical test you have to bring your own kit with sufficient accessories. You have ten minutes at the beginning of the exam to settle in. Then two minutes to set up supplies for each section between sections.


This exam focuses on your theoretical knowledge. You will be asked questions about cosmetological rules, practical skills, laws and regulations, and ethical skills.

After passing the exam, the apprenticeship license is issued.


After working twenty hours a week in Kentucky for at least six months under the supervision of a licensed esthetician, you are now eligible to apply for the regular exam. This is a practical exam. For this exam you have to follow the following steps:

  1. Submit application to the board
  2. Submit exam fee of $75
  3. Recent 2×2 photo

After the application has been processed, you will be informed of the examination date by the board of directors. After passing the exam, you will receive the cosmetics license.


You must renew the license by July 31 of each year. No further training is required for license renewal.


After you have the cosmetics license, you can attend eyelash extension training. Various salons and institutes offer their services. The courses range from one or two days of training to four days. You can join any of these eyelash extension trainings. All of them include:
