If you want to improve your income by offering a professional beauty service, get an eyelash extensions certificate. If you take a course, you can become an eyelash stylist and open your own studio. Eyelash extensions are becoming more and more popular, so the demand is growing very quickly. In this article, we are going to talk about the Massachusetts eyelash extension certification requirements.

LICENSE

The first step to becoming an eyelash stylist is to obtain a cosmetology or beautician license. This license is issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Cosmetologists.

COSMETOLOGY TRAINING

If you are at least 17 years old and have completed 10th grade, you can obtain a cosmetics license in Massachusetts. There are 24 cosmetology programs in Massachusetts that have been accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Science. You must complete at least 1000 hours of training. The training is divided into salon and classroom sections. During classes, you will have to take courses on all sorts of cosmetology subjects.

APPLICATION

After completing your education in Massachusetts, you now have to take exams. The school will provide you with a license application form that you must submit to Pearson Vue before scheduling the exams. The certification portion of the application must be completed by the principal of the school. You must pass the exams within two years of completing cosmetology training, otherwise you must submit a new application for the exams.

EXAMS

To make an exam reservation, you must call Pearson Vue. The exam fee is $120, which you pay when you schedule your exams. There are two parts of the exam.

PRACTICAL EXAM

This is the first part of the exam. You will be tested on 26 timed tasks within 3 ½ hours. You must bring an adult model and all materials for the exam. To pass the exam, you must score at least 80 points.

WRITTEN EXAM

This exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions. You have two hours to complete the process. To pass this exam, you must score at least 75 points.

After passing both exams, the license fee of $68 will be charged by the Pearson Vue testing center. Then you get a cosmetics license.

LICENSE RENEWAL

The first license renewal occurs after one year from the date of issue. After that, it will be renewed every two years on your birthday. You have to pay $68 to renew the license. No advanced training is required in Massachusetts.

CERTIFICATE

After receiving the license, you are now entitled to receive the certificate. You can join any institute that offers such training both online and on-site.

Becoming a certified eyelash technician is no easy task. But if you have a passion for eyelashes and want to be a part of this amazing beauty industry, you sure can do it.
