How to get certified to do eyelash extensions in Colorado

Eyelash extensions are the false lashes that are applied on natural eyelashes to make them larger and more voluminous. Eyelash extensions training programs are globally renowned. If you live in Colorado and want to become a lash boss, then we will tell you the procedure - how to get a certificate of eyelash extensions.

To get a certificate, you must have a cosmetology or esthetician license from the office of cosmetology and barber. Through this license, you will learn the basics of the beauty industry.

You have to complete a cosmetology program. Unlike other states, Colorado acknowledges credit hours for licensure. Here you have to complete 60 credit hours. Generally, a program with 60 credit hours results in an associate degree.

Once you have completed the cosmetology program, now it’s time to submit an online application and pay $27 as a fee. The process of application is completed via the Colorado cosmetology licensure portal. This portal is the part of PSI that handles the cosmetology exams. While applying, you must be 16 years old.

After sending the application, you will be informed through email within 48 hours. After receiving the email, do contact PSI. Pay the fee of $71 and schedule your practical exam.

When you will contact PSI, it will provide you the numbers of testing centers for the practical exams. Centers are includes:

  • Colorado Springs
  • Grand Junction
  • Durango

The duration of the practical exam is 2 hours and 20 minutes. After passing the practical test, now you have to pay $56 and schedule the written examination through PSI. You will be given 2 hours for the written test. You have to pass both exams within one year that starts with the application date. If you fail, your application will expire and you have to submit the application again and pay the fee. After passing both exams, you will immediately get the cosmetology license along with a photo-bearing pocket card.

In the eyelash extensions training program, you will learn the fundamentals, business building strategies, and core techniques necessary to become a lash artist. This is in-person training for 4 days. This training is comprised of two courses. Each has two days.

  1. Fundamentals of eyelash extension application course
  2. Certification in eyelash extension application course

In Colorado, all cosmetologist licenses expire after two years, on April 30. Your eyelash extension license can expire on an even-numbered year or odd-numbered year. It depends upon the issue date. If you want to continue your practice legally, you must renew your license and keep it current. To maintain the license, there is no need to continue the education.  However, you can likely get training to enhance your learning and practice.

In the training program, you have a chance to learn, practice, and polish your skills on live models. So register yourself, get trained, and be certified. You have the chance to demonstrate your skills with confidence and explore your career in Colorado.
